Joshua is unavailable, but you can change that!

After the leadership of Moses, the Lord chose Joshua to lead his people into the land he had promised. The book of Joshua tells how God helped his people conquer the Promised Land. Not only did the walls of Jericho fall down before God’s people, but the Lord granted many additional victories to them. Through his long life of service, Joshua followed the Lord faithfully and wholeheartedly.

But Israel has everything to fear if Joshua’s warning is ignored. Blessings and possession of the land are conditional. The chosen nation can “perish from this good land.” The phrase “good land” stresses the dear loss Israel will experience if she is to discard the covenant. Israel’s later story shows that Joshua’s warnings are right on target. Paul uses Israel’s story to wake us up to temptations that can drag us from faith and salvation.
